About Me

Imagine yourself growing up in the small Midwestern city of Peoria, IL. Then, one day, waking up to a view of the Golden Gate Bridge! Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? Well, it happened to me. I was stationed (Army) at the Presidio of San Francisco and the most photographed structure in the world was right outside my window. Mind Blown!!!

Upon Arriving at S.F. I didn’t have a car, so I had to walk everywhere. One day I walked around the Marina district and noticed a store named House of Magic, so I walked in. The magician behind the counter Blew me away so badly that I had to learn how he was doing it. So I kept going back day after day, to watch the magician perform. This just increased my interest to want to become a magician. So I started to learn.

That was in 1992.

In 1998, I completed my term in the Military and began performing and entertaining at Harvey’s Hotel & Casino in Lake Tahoe. This is where I honed my skills as a close-up sleight of hand magician.

Close-up magic is a smaller scale illusion performed 1 on 1, or in small groups. The objects used in close-up are more ordinary things found in pockets like money, keys, cards, etc. The items may be small but the experience can be just as impactful as a fully produced stage illusion show.  No fancy lighting, smoke, or mirrors. Just a pair of hands some cards and whatever you have in your pocket.

Nowadays, I travel all over to share my skills as a magician in hopes not only to entertain but to give my audience the same feeling I had the first time I saw a magician perform.

So, who is Michael Jae? He is a funny, charming, no holds back
